Originally formed as a side project and a home for his excess material, Nearby Pastures is the moniker of Orange County multi-instrumentalist Spencer A. Simmons. As his various other musical projects took a moment to regather at the end of 2016, Simmons found himself with an opening in his schedule and decided to focus on the creation of something new. Like many cult favorites of the indie rock genre, including significant influencers like Bright Eyes and Elliott Smith, the project is the brainchild of its front man and features a revolving cast of friends as live accompaniment.
